Job description

The Senior Systems Engineer plays a key role in the development of aircraft fuel tank inerting systems for both civil and military applications. This position applies a structured systems engineering approach to define requirements, develop system architectures, integrate hardware and software components, and ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant aerospace products. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, supporting certification activities, customer engagements, and program milestones.

  • Execute systems engineering activities at the sub-system or component level under the guidance of the Lead Systems Engineer.
  • Develop, analyze, and manage system and sub-system requirements, including flow-down, traceability, validation, and compliance.
  • Contribute to system architecture definition, interface development, and integration planning.
  • Coordinate and support integration of hardware and/or software components to ensure technical compatibility and configuration control.
  • Participate in design reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR) as an active Design Team member, providing technical input and risk identification.
  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, including specifications, analysis reports, integration plans, and certification evidence.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations for Eaton leadership and customer audiences; communicate issues, risks, and mitigation plans effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders-including customers, suppliers, project engineers, design engineers, test engineers, and program management-to resolve technical challenges and achieve deliverable objectives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, tools, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in systems engineering

Skills:

  • Requirements development, system architecture, mechanical/electrical/controls design, or definition of system actions and alarms
  • Verification and validation activities such as test plan creation, test management, instrumentation selection, or test procedure development

Working knowledge of:

  • Requirements engineering tools

  • Configuration control and change management

  • Risk management processes

  • Verification and validation methods

  • Demonstrated interdisciplinary engineering experience and the ability to work effectively across functions

  • Effective collaboration and communication skills with customers, suppliers, and internal partners

  • Experience with modeling, simulation, and design tools

  • Knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety (RAMS)

  • Familiarity with PLM systems

  • External systems engineering credentials (e.g., INCOSE ASEP, Systems Engineering degree, CMMI)

  • Exposure to DFSS, structured problem-solving methods, and failure analysis techniques

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment

  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills

  • Confident customer presence and ability to influence cross-functional decisions

  • Analytical, structured problem-solving mindset

  • Self-starter with creativity and initiative
