Job description

The Components Developer is responsible for the development, sourcing, and management of trims and accessories for the WRTW and Haute Couture team's product lines. This role requires a strong understanding of trim materials, manufacturing processes, and industry trends, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. He/she will work closely with design, product development, and sourcing teams to ensure that trims meet aesthetic, functional, and quality requirements, while also adhering to cost targets and lead times.

  • Research and identify new trim and accessory options, keeping abreast of current trends and innovations in the market.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive trim library, including material specifications, pricing, and supplier information.
  • Collaborate with designers to understand their trim needs and provide technical guidance on material selection and construction.
  • Work with product development teams to ensure that trims meet performance and durability requirements.
  • Source trims from approved suppliers, negotiating pricing and lead times to meet project goals.
  • Manage trim samples and approvals, ensuring that all trims meet quality standards and are consistent across production runs.
  • Troubleshoot trim-related issues that may arise during the development or production process.
  • Maintain accurate records of trim usage and costs.
  • Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and standards, such as safety and environmental requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and provide updates on trim development progress., Ability to foresee potential issues, offer innovative solutions, and ensure the quality of materials is crucial in maintaining our commitment to excellence. You will work closely with the Design, Buying, Sourcing and Product Development teams ensuring the aesthetic, functional and commercial needs of materials are met.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of trim development 5-7 years minimum

  • Ability to anticipate problems, offer solutions, and address issues with materials.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and data management systems such as CENTRIC PLM.

  • Collaborative and team orientated.

  • Ability to cope with change in a fast-moving energetic environment.

  • Outstanding attention to detail, superb organisational skills.

  • Knowledge of essential languages: French, English, Italian would truly be a plus., * Experience working at a global trim supplier or brand is highly desired

  • Experience working with performance trims.

  • Strong know-how of trim applications to support the aesthetic, functional, technical and commercial needs of the product.

  • Good knowledge of textile trims and hard trims as well as trim physical properties and performance testing.

  • Excellent technical knowledge of zip componentry.

  • Negotiation skills.
