Job description
We're partnered with a rapidly scaling AI start-up building technology that's redefining how complex, high-value work is done within the legal and professional services space. Backed by over £40M in funding, they're now looking for a hands-on AI Engineer to join the team and help turn cutting-edge ideas into real, working products used by customers today.
This is a role for engineers who want to build, not just research. You'll be working across LLMs, agent-based systems, prompt engineering, model optimisation, and production infrastructure, taking ownership of features and shipping fast. The environment is lean, high-performance, and built around people who want to move quickly, take responsibility, and see their work live in production within weeks - not months.
If you enjoy solving real-world problems with AI, working closely with product and founders, and being part of something early with serious upside - this is exactly that.
Requirements
- 2-5 years' experience in AI / ML Engineering or Applied AI roles
- Experience building or deploying LLM-driven applications or tools
- Strong Python skills and familiarity with modern AI tooling
- Understanding of prompt engineering, evaluation, and model performance
- Experience working in fast-paced or start-up environments is highly beneficial
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work autonomously
- Background from a top university is beneficial, but practical ability is key
Benefits & conditions
- £200,000 - £250,000 Salary
- Join a well-funded start-up (£40M+) at an early, high-growth stage
- Build real AI products used in production, not just prototypes
- High level of ownership and influence over product direction
- Work directly with founders and senior engineering leadership
- Strong equity potential and long-term upside
- Fast-moving, non-corporate environment
- Work alongside high-calibre engineers and product thinkers
- Opportunity to define your role as the company scales
