Job description
As an Agentic AI Architect / Software Engineer at Kyndryl, you will work on cutting-edge, enterprise-scale platforms that integrate next-generation Agentic AI and multi-agent system capabilities. This is a strategically important role that blends architectural design, advanced AI engineering, and hands-on software delivery.
Depending on your strengths, you may lean more towards architecture or software engineering; however, all candidates are expected to operate comfortably across design, build, and delivery. You will thrive in a true builder's environment, where MVPs are delivered in weeks, requirements evolve rapidly, and your work directly shapes Kyndryl's AI-native transformation.
What You'll Do
- Design and deliver distributed, cloud-native architecture's for large-scale enterprise systems across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Build and maintain core software components for Agentic AI platforms, translating architectural vision into secure, scalable, production-ready code.
- Design and implement Agentic and multi-agent systems, including orchestration of autonomous workflows using frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGPT, CrewAI, or custom-built solutions.
- Develop and deploy LLM-based solutions, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, vector databases, and AI orchestration layers.
- Integrate external APIs, enterprise systems, databases, and knowledge sources into Agentic workflows.
- Implement action planning and reasoning frameworks such as ReAct, Tree-of-Thought, and Plan-and-Execute to enable robust agent behaviour.
- Design human-in-the-loop feedback mechanisms, delegation models, and guardrails to support safe, explainable, and controllable AI systems.
- Set and uphold technical standards for security, scalability, and performance, preventing poor-quality code or weak architecture from entering production.
- Translate ambiguous customer requirements into clear technical designs and working implementations.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, data specialists, architects, and stakeholders to deliver rapid MVPs and production deployments.
- Work in agile sprints, contributing to code reviews, pull requests, and continuous improvement.
- Engage directly with customers as a technical authority or subject matter expert, particularly in regulated or complex enterprise environments.
Requirements
You're good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. However, equally as important - you have a growth mindset; keen to drive your own personal and professional development. You are customer-focused, someone who prioritise customer success in their work. And finally, you're open and borderless, naturally inclusive in how you work with others., * Minimum of 7 years' experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or architecture roles.
- Advanced degree in AI, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in Rust, C++, or C#.
- Proven experience designing and building distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow, and deploying LLM-based solutions.
- Strong understanding of vector databases, RAG architectures, and AI orchestration tools.
- Experience working with Agentic AI, multi-agent systems, and autonomous workflows.
- Familiarity with containerisation, orchestration, API design, observability, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to work from the Liverpool office at least three days per week.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Cloud certifications across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud.
- Proven experience with modern data and AI platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or Elastic.
- Prior involvement in digital transformation initiatives or AI-native product development within enterprise environments.
- Experience with graph theory, knowledge representation, or advanced distributed systems.
- Exposure to regulated industries, including understanding of compliance, governance, and security requirements.
- Contributions to technical or academic communities, such as open-source projects, whitepapers, or conference presentations.
Benefits & conditions
- Work on the next frontier: Agentic AI and multi-agent systems are redefining enterprise software, and you will help shape their adoption at scale.
- Startup energy with enterprise scale: rapid innovation backed by global reach and resources.
- Direct impact: your designs and code will power Kyndryl's AI-native platforms and customer solutions.
