Job description
The post holder will be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of digital links, training and clear strategies to support the digital agenda, supporting the on-going development of the maternity record and relevant information management and technology systems.
Professioal leadership acting as the midwifery digital specialist when representing internal and external meetings for Gateshead Health Trust
The post holder will, through audit and evaluation, ensure the provision of these services meets the needs of the service and local population.
Act as the clinical expert and professional resource for patients, their carers and the multi-professional team.
Work alongside the Lead Midwife for Risk, Safety and Quality, and the Practice Development midwife to ensure the service is fully compliant with safety and quality evidence requirements
Work collaboratively with the Local Maternity System and regional Public Health practitioners in developing appropriate pathways which align to the digital agenda
Providing management and leadership of champions in all areas
Main duties of the jobDemonstrate in depth specialist digital knowledge, skills and innovative practice leading the delivery of appropriate evidence based care
Demonstrate appropriate expert practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This will necessate high levels of autonomy and advocacy.
Be visible and proactive in all areas, including community led care, triage and assessment, antenatal wards and/or lead discussion regarding digital provisio
Promote and lead on the introduction of any new initiatives relating to the maternity digital agenda
Support the development and implementation of maternity quality and safety initiatives including;Maternity Safety Improvement Plan

Maternity Transformation Programme
Participate in the development of maternity guidelines
Actively engage with other agencies including voluntary and local authority provision to ensure collaborative learning and support
Work with clinical informatics, business managers and finance to assess the benefits of digital initiatives and local technology projects in order to implement digital change., Job responsibilitiesTo provide professional support and guidance to midwifery and other staff in relation to digital midwifery
Take overall responsibility for ensuring effective communication between all service providers within the speciality
Provide and establish good positive working relationships with the Head of Midwifery, Community Lead, Team Managers, Ward Managers and their teams, and Practice Development Lead
Works as an effective and responsible team member and enables others to do so. Will support and help junior staff to organise their work
Contribute to the division and organisational strategies for raising the profile of patient and public involvement and embedding this within own sphere of practice. Actively encourage feedback from service users and educator staff around the advantages of obtaining this
Actively participate in local, national and international networking to maintain and develop expert level of knowledge in the speciality. Ensuring engagement with the regional digital work stream
Ensure that the importance and implications of education, research, and ideas are raised in appropriate forums. To work in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure good quality data is recorded effectively
To develop effective lines of communication between the digital team and clinicians, through a variety of strategies
To develop and maintain good working relationships with the supplier of BadgerNet and other departments in the trust such as Health Informatics, Business Intelligence and the Patient Administration Team
Skilled in communicating with a range of people on a daily basis some of who may have communication barriers
To be responsible for disseminating important messages, memos, updates and information as required to ensure effective communication channels
Work collaboratively with the Chief Information Officer for the Trust and the Clinical safety Officer to drive safety
