Job description
The Business Intelligence Lead role drives and implements the BI Strategy and wider Finance Strategy. The Business Intelligence Lead will spearhead the integration of advanced BI solutions within the finance domain and will be instrumental in levelling up the Business Intelligence capabilities of the organisation, focusing on broadening capabilities into simulation analysis, scenario building and utilising AI capabilities. This role leads a small team to leverage data analytics and BI tools to provide actionable financial insights across the business, streamline processes through automation, and inform strategic decision-making. Strategic Leadership in Business Analytics
- Develop and implement the BI strategy tailored to the financial needs of the organisation including prioritising initiatives that align with organisational objectives and deliver measurable value.
- Partner with finance leadership team to identify analytical and automation opportunities and improve financial performance.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures within finance to ensure compliance with broader technology governance standards
- Represent finance in organisational data governance discussions, ensuring finance-specific data needs are prioritised and integrated into the organisation's data strategy.
- Engage stakeholders across the organisation to independently access and analyse data by promoting the use of self-service analytics tools and teach them how data and analytics enhance decision-making and operational efficiency
- Wider organisation empowerment: Conducting knowledge sharing sessions, discussion forums and raising awareness about use of dashboards, data governance policies and best practices to foster a data-driven culture.
BI System Development and Optimisation
- Lead team to design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to track key financial metrics (e.g, EBIT, cash flow, ROI, KPIs) that are accurate and consistent.
- Data Management: Ensure that data is collected, stored, and managed effectively to support the BI needs of the organization. This includes data governance, data quality assurance, and data integration.
- Lead a robust BI dashboard build process from gathering user requirements to user acceptance testing and deployment.
- Utilise metrics and analytics to monitor data quality, identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions promptly to maintain high standards of data reliability.
- Drive the deployment and development of AI initiatives in finance to enhance decision-making, operational efficiency and scenario analysis.
Advanced Financial Analysis
- Provide insights into financial trends, variance analysis, and forecasting using data-driven methods, liaising with finance leadership to ensure efficient delivery across the business.
- Lead planning and predictive modelling for strategic initiatives.
- Analyse large datasets to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures, presenting key outcomes and recommendations to finance leadership
Team Leadership
- Recruit, develop and retain data and analytics talent. Focus on enhancing organisational capabilities and fostering a high-performing team.
- Offer mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members, to support their career growth and skill enhancement.
- Establish best practices for finance BI processes, data governance, and reporting standards.
- Ensure successful delivery of finance-related BI projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
- Drive engagement with finance team members to innovate with machine learning and AI to extract actionable insights from complex financial data sets.
Requirements
Experienced in driving simulation analysis, scenario building and utilising AI capabilities across the organisation. Significant expertise in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView) and data visualisation, able to lead on optimal tool usage for business outcomes and strategic insights Proficiency in financial modelling and analysis tools, including Excel, SQL, and data warehousing platforms. Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and financial software integration. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
