Job description
As part of the development of our Digital Services function, we are recruiting to strengthen internal digital capability within the Digital Technical Competence team. These roles are central to building sustainable in-house expertise that supports the design, development, and delivery of digital solutions across the transport network.
A key focus of this campaign is creating new opportunities. As a result, we are recruiting DevOps Engineers, and building a brand-new practice. This is a pivotal role in shaping and delivering technological solutions that support one of the country's most complex and nationally important operational environments while strengthening our DevOps capability.
You will work across complex projects to enable faster, more reliable software delivery through automation, infrastructure as code, and modern deployment practices. Acting as a bridge between development and operations, you will help drive better, faster outcomes as National Highways continues to build and evolve its own technology solutions.
This is a hybrid role, requiring two days per week in the office, based at any National Highways office location.
- Integrate systems and solutions at a low to medium level of complexity as required to deliver solutions and projects bringing value to the business through continuous improvement
- Develop, design and document solutions and systems to a low to medium level of complexity using DevOps processes as part of continuous improvement and delivery.
- Program and build (software engineering) software to a low to medium level of complexity as required for continuous improvement and delivery.
- Manage live test environments so we can trial new software and solutions efficiently.
- Deliver projects at a low level of complexity using DevOps processes to meet our business needs, continuous improvement and delivery.
- Support our services, software and components to agreed KPIs and meet our business goals.
Requirements
- You have experience with DevOps & Engineering Practices, such as experience with CI/CD tools, modern programming languages (e.g. Python, TypeScript), and experienced in identifying process improvements
- You can plan and coordinate system and acceptance testing, covering both functional and non-functional specifications.
- You bring experience in troubleshooting across diverse technology stacks: compute, storage, networking, COTS, and open-source software.
- You design systems with appropriate levels of risk, impact, and complexity, applying suitable standards, methods, and tools effectively.
- You bring academic and industry-recognised qualifications that demonstrate your expertise and credibility, including a degree in software engineering, cyber security, digital forensics (or a related field), and/or relevant industry certifications such as AWS, GIAC, or OSCP., Disability Confident About Disability Confident A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer.
