Job description
Job Title: Lead Java Developer Rate: £570 (Inside IR35) Duration: 6 months Location: Remote - One day onsite per week in Manchester Clearance: BPSS Stages: 1 Stage
Must Have Government Experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of Back End services using Java and Spring Boot
- Architect and build scalable microservices-based solutions
- Oversee deployment and orchestration of services using Docker containers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and Front End developers
- Ensure code quality through best practices, code reviews, and mentoring junior developers
- Contribute to technical decision-making and system design
- Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
- Ensure solutions align with modern engineering standards and security requirements
Technical Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Proven experience building and maintaining microservices architectures
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised deployments
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and Back End service design
- Experience working in agile development environments
Desirable Skills:
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js
- Experience with templating engines such as Nunjucks
- Exposure to Front End development (basic UI implementation)
- Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards (eg, GDS guidelines)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
