Lead Java Developer - 6 months - Hybrid

Job Title: Lead Java Developer Rate: £570 (Inside IR35) Duration: 6 months Location: Remote - One day onsite per week in Manchester Clearance: BPSS Stages: 1 Stage

Must Have Government Experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of Back End services using Java and Spring Boot
• Architect and build scalable microservices-based solutions
• Oversee deployment and orchestration of services using Docker containers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and Front End developers
• Ensure code quality through best practices, code reviews, and mentoring junior developers
• Contribute to technical decision-making and system design
• Support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Ensure solutions align with modern engineering standards and security requirements

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Proven experience building and maintaining microservices architectures
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised deployments
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and Back End service design
• Experience working in agile development environments

Desirable Skills:

• Working knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js
• Experience with templating engines such as Nunjucks
• Exposure to Front End development (basic UI implementation)
• Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards (eg, GDS guidelines)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
