Job description
We are looking for an experienced Lead Mobile Engineer to join our team working on a complex field-service mobile application used by engineers across the UK. You will lead the technical direction of our iOS platform while ensuring your team is empowered to maintain and improve a production codebase with a large user base.
Requirements
Do you have experience in iOS development?, * Proven ability to lead technical projects and guide engineering teams, including mentoring engineers.
- Clear communicator who can work well and build relationships with team members of all disciplines and across the business.
- Comfortable evolving team ways-of-working in dynamic fast-paced delivery environments.
- Experience developing and refining AI-assisted development workflows and methodologies, with the ability to improve how the team uses the latest tools and practices.
- Deep expertise in Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, Combine, XCTest and the broad iOS ecosystem.
- Experience with legacy codebases and leading transformation.
- Strong understanding of offline-first architecture and API integration.
- Understanding of App Store publishing, policies, and release management.
Desirable experience:
- Track record of evaluating emerging technologies (including AI tooling) and introducing them effectively.
- Experience with cross-platform approaches (KMP, shared architecture patterns).
- Experience in SaaS, field service or logistics domains.
What we're looking for in the person:
- A leader who strives for psychological safety in your team.
- You celebrate the success of those around you and promote individual and team development outside of pure delivery.
- You stay current with the iOS ecosystem but apply new tools and patterns as appropriate, not just because they're new.
- You balance the need to work in legacy codebases whilst modernising and delivering new features.
- Comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and course-correcting when needed.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in iOS development, with strong expertise in Swift and the wider iOS ecosystem (UIKit, SwiftUI, Combine).
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams and deliver production software, mentoring others and driving technical direction.
- Experience working with and modernising legacy codebases while continuing to ship features.
- Strong focus on delivery and execution in fast-paced environments.
- Experience building scalable mobile applications, including API integration and offline-first architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments and modern development tooling.
