Job description
As a full-stack Engineer, you will be working as part of a high-performance team developing new solutions that put the customer at the heart of the product. We believe in shipping quality, tested, secure and consistent code. You will also work closely with other development teams and the DevSecOps squad to ensure the solution is performant and reliable.
About the team
The Tesco Mobile Development team is a truly cross functional team responsible for the functional software development of bespoke and product / SaaS based IT solutions.
You will be working within a very diverse team of highly motivated and talented individuals on business-critical full-stack development. Our teams are motivated and challenged, working in sprints across a range of technologies which together provide huge benefit to the wider business.
This role sits primarily within the 'Acquisitions Platform' squad, which is responsible for developing and maintaining full-stack applications that support Tesco Mobile's customer acquisition journey as part of the wider 'I Choose' tribe. The squad owns several strategic services and is accountable for both their ongoing development and their DevOps responsibilities. Depending on business priorities you may also contribute to other squads.

You will be responsible for
- Be a team player - live the Tesco Mobile values.
- Work with the squad to deliver in sprints.
- Developing new solutions, features and driving technical excellence of existing applications
- Deliver quality, reusable and modular code aligned to the Tesco Mobile standards.
- Ensure code is documented, tested, secure, performant and can be maintained.
- Work to refresh existing code as required.
- Contribute to integration and performance tests for newly developed solutions.
- Work as part of the team to solve complex cross-business technical problems.
- Share knowledge with other members of the squad.
Requirements
- Significant experience implementing full-stack solutions using Django and Python.
- Extensive experience working with Kubernetes, Docker and Docker Compose
- Significant experience in using GitHub actions for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
- Solid understanding of AWS and experience performing basic configuration tasks within AWS environments
- Experience load testing and performance testing.
- Understanding of databases and SQL query optimisation.
- Experience delivering applications with a focus on security.
- Source code systems and branching strategies.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
Nice to have:
- Basic understanding of Redis, RabbitMQ
- Proven ability to design, configure, and manage AWS services at a production level
- Experience in developing software using Golang including design, coding, testing and deploying applications
