Job description

This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a team delivering regulatory and technology change!

We're seeking curious engineers to work within our feature teams. You will support customers by ensuring the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards expected.

We're looking for someone who wants to further develop their engineering skillset. We'll support you to be able to be able to take on technical challenges and develop your understanding of how data solutions and services are developed, tested and implemented. We are pioneering the transformation of current processes from our on-premises platforms and have started our journey in deploying solutions on the Google Cloud Platform. This role sits within our platforms Analytics Lab who are looking to create strategic data products and build data and analytics capability.

We work using agile delivery practices, so a self-led individual capable of accurately estimating and planning their own work would be valued highly.

What You'd Get Involved With:

  1. Data Platform Operations

Operate and support GCP-based data platforms, particularly BigQuery environments

Monitor platform performance, availability, and cost efficiency

Ensure high availability and resilience of data systems

  1. Pipeline Reliability & Support

Maintain and support ETL/ELT pipelines using Composer (Airflow) and dbt

Ensure data quality, completeness, and timeliness across pipelines

Implement proactive monitoring and alerting for pipeline failures

  1. Incident & Problem Management

Lead investigation and resolution of production data incidents

Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative fixes

Participate in on-call rotations for critical systems

  1. Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

Manage infrastructure using Terraform on GCP

Support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Harness

Work with Pub/Sub for event-driven data processing

  1. Data Governance & Compliance

Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal data governance policies

Implement data lineage, auditing, and access controls

Collaborate with risk, security, and compliance teams

  1. Collaboration & Leadership

Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices

Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and platform teams

Contribute to architectural decisions and platform enhancements

Requirements

There is no requirement to have experience with every technology listed, and we would be happy to provide any development opportunities.

Technical Skills

Strong SQL expertise and experience working with BigQuery

Hands-on experience with GCP services (BigQuery, Composer, Pub/Sub)

Proficiency in Python and/or Java

Experience with dbt for transformation workflows

Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Tivoli

DevOps & Infrastructure

Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Harness)

Infrastructure as Code using Terraform

Version control using Git

Operational Expertise

Experience in data operations, production support, or SRE environments

Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills

Monitoring and alerting implementation experience

Domain Knowledge (Preferred)

Experience in financial services or regulated environments

Understanding of data governance, risk, and compliance frameworks

Desirable skills include:

Strong focus on reliability, automation, and scalability

Experience operating mission-critical data platforms

Ability to bridge engineering and operational support

Proactive mindset toward improving systems and processes
