Job description
As a Power Systems and Integrator (f/m/d) of Power Electronic Devices, you will be at the forefront of modeling and analyzing the dynamic behavior of high-voltage AC power grids in conjunction with advanced power electronic systems. Your work will ensure that grid-connected converters for energy storage and generation comply with evolving grid codes and support grid-forming capabilities essential for the energy transition. Your work will directly contribute to the realization of high-efficiency, high-reliability systems for grid integration, and industrial applications. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to define architectures, validate concepts, and drive innovation from research to product deployment. We are looking forward to your application! How You'll Make an Impact
- Develop and validate detailed simulation models of high-voltage AC grids and their interaction with power electronic converters (e.g., MMC, VSC)
- Analyze dynamic grid behavior under various operating conditions, including fault scenarios and disturbances in frequency and voltage
- Evaluate compliance with international and regional grid codes (e.g., ENTSO-E, IEEE, BDEW) and support certification processes
- Design and assess control strategies for grid-forming and grid-following converter-based resources
- Collaborate with hardware, control, and system engineering teams to ensure integrated system performance and support R&D projects
- Document findings and contribute to technical publications, standards, and internal knowledge bases, while collaborating with experts for seamless hardware-software co-design
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics or a related field
- Strong background in power system simulation and power system dynamics
- Proven experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or EMTP
- Familiarity with grid code requirements and compliance testing for converter-based systems
- Knowledge of grid-forming inverter concepts and their role in future power systems
- Analytical mindset, structured working style, and strong communication skills; fluent in English, with German language skills at C1 level appreciated
