  • Personal support and qualified advice at the Unit Aviation offices, e.g.in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, Stade, Augsburg, Munich, or Bremen, * Lead the modeling and simulation of hybrid and electric propulsion systems using a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology
  • Define and develop system architecture sizing models using Python to establish the foundational framework
  • Improve and further develop the simulation methodology and tools landscape to ensure a robust and efficient workflow
  • Lead the development of a modular simulation platform at the drive system level, ensuring seamless interaction with other systems (e.g., flight mechanics, controls, and communication)
  • Develop and integrate simulation models for specific subsystem-level analyses (e.g., eMotor, MCU, Batteries, Thermal Management System), incorporating both in-house and supplier models and create surrogate models as needed
  • Create and maintain subsystem modules in MATLAB / Simulink / Simscape
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of the various simulation platforms using real-world test data
  • Perform Validation and Verification (V&V) of all simulation models to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Ensure complete documentation of all model validation activities

Requirements

  • Completed studies in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or comparable
  • Several years of professional experience in Engineering
  • Experience in modeling and simulation
  • Experience with version control and project management toll like Git and Kanban is desirable
  • Knowledge about fuel cell systems
  • Knowledge about aircraft propulsion systems, electric motors and batteries is an advantage
  • Very good skills in Python and Matlab
  • Skills with simulation tools like Simulink / Simscape, Amesim, CFTurbo and STAR-CCM+ is desirable
  • Fluent English skills spoken and written
