Job description
As Senior Platform Engineer, you apply deep hands-on platform engineering expertise to design, build and operate customer-specific implementations of the Digital Sovereign Private Cloud. You work embedded within the customer context, delivering secure, resilient and compliant OpenShift-based platform environments while adhering to the standards and guardrails of the global DSPC platform.
You translate customer requirements into concrete platform configurations, integrations and extensions using Infrastructure-as-Code, automation and GitOps practices. Your contribution is essential to ensuring stable, secure and reliable customer environments in production, while continuously improving platform quality and operational excellence.
Activities

Design, build and operate customer-specific Red Hat OpenShift clusters and platform components.

Implement customer-driven platform configurations, integrations and extensions within approved global DSPC standards.

Execute platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, scaling, certificate management and version alignment.

Ensure stability, resilience, security and compliance of customer platform environments.

Troubleshoot complex cluster-level, networking, storage and platform integration issues.

Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps-based delivery for customer environments.

Work closely with automation and security engineers to embed operational, security and compliance standards as code.

Support incident response, root cause analysis and remediation directly in the customer environment when required.

Validate platform changes against customer SLAs, operational requirements and compliance constraints.

Create and maintain operational documentation and support customer handover and enablement.

Collaborate with customer SREs or operational teams to ensure reliable day-2 operations.
Requirements

Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or enterprise Kubernetes platforms.

Proven experience designing, building and operating production-grade cloud-native platforms.

Solid knowledge of Linux systems, container runtimes, networking and storage technologies.

Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, automation and GitOps-based delivery models.

Strong troubleshooting skills in complex, distributed environments.

Analytical mindset with strong ownership for platform stability and reliability.

Self-driven, accountable team player with a strong delivery and quality focus.

Fluent in English & Dutch.
Additional Skills & Experience

Experience working in regulated or sovereign environments (public sector, government, defense, justice).

Familiarity with security, compliance and operational standards in mission-critical environments.

Experience working in customer-embedded or customer-facing engineering roles.

Ability to operate within global platform guardrails while delivering local customer value.

Experience collaborating with distributed platform and supplier teams.
Profile

Position available for candidates based in the Netherlands & Belgium.

Strong IT background with focus on platform engineering, cloud-native technologies and automation.
-
Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in platform engineering or similar roles.

Comfortable working in customer environments with high availability and compliance requirements.
-
Willingness to undergo required background screening (e.g. BO+).
-
Relevant certifications (Red Hat, Kubernetes, Cloud) are a plus.
Willingness to travel ones a week to Amstelveen (Could be less)
