Job description
This role goes far beyond "keeping the lights on." You'll be shaping the future of our on-prem infrastructure, ensuring that our systems remain secure, reliable, and future-proof. You'll have the freedom to set the standard: technically, operationally, and strategically., * Lead and develop a distributed system administration team (Netherlands & Spain)
- Evolve and optimise our on-prem platform to maximise performance, reliability and security
- Define, document and enforce clear technical standards, playbooks and procedures
- Oversee local network and development environments for smooth engineering workflows
- Proactively detect and resolve system bottlenecks before they become problems
- Automate repetitive tasks to increase speed and consistency
- Own the infrastructure roadmap and be the key technical decision-maker

About the team
BaseNet is part of Blinqx, a fast-growing tech group that connects specialist software companies across different industries. Within BaseNet, we develop SaaS solutions tailored for the legal market, software that helps law firms manage cases, clients and communication seamlessly.
As Lead System Administrator you will be part of the engineering team, reporting directly to the CPTO of BaseNet. You will lead a distributed team of 5-6 system administrators in the Netherlands and Spain, combining remote collaboration with local coordination from our Amsterdam office.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Ubuntu?, * 10+ years of experience managing and operating production infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), Proxmox, Kubernetes and Docker
- Solid understanding of networking, email servers, distributed storage (Ceph) and security
- Experience leading or mentoring technical teams, preferably across locations
- The ability to explain complex systems in simple terms
- A proactive mindset: you don't wait for problems to appear; you prevent them
- Strong sense of ownership and pride in building and maintaining robust systems
- Experience in a SaaS or B2B environment is a strong plus
- Cloud and AI experience is a plus, but the core remains physical and local
