Job description
This position is ideal for a mid-level DBA who enjoys hands-on technical work and wants to play a key role in shaping a modern, cloud-first database environment., You'll be responsible for managing a sizeable estate of ~60 production databases, ensuring performance, stability, and optimisation across the platform. A major focus will be working closely with development teams to refactor queries, improve performance, and support best practices across SQL and Azure.
You'll also play a key role in the ongoing migration to Azure, gaining exposure to cloud technologies while driving improvements in database performance and scalability., * SQL Server administration across production and non-production environments
- Performance tuning, optimisation, and query refactoring
- Writing efficient T-SQL and analysing execution plans
- Supporting and collaborating with developers to improve database performance
- Contributing to Azure migration and cloud optimisation initiatives
- Managing backups, security, and database maintenance
Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar
- Strong T-SQL skills and experience optimising queries
- Proven experience in performance tuning and database optimisation
- Ability to work closely with development teams
- Exposure to Azure SQL or cloud environments (desirable)
- Experience working with multiple databases in a production environment
Nice to Have
- Experience in financial services or pensions
- Exposure to database monitoring tools (e.g. Redgate, SolarWinds)
- Understanding of HA/DR concepts
