Software Engineer

Join us as a Software Engineer in Sky's Content Platform, building and operating the systems that power content delivery at scale. From video ingest and encoding to metadata and distribution, you'll work on high-impact services used by millions of customers while delivering reliable, scalable solutions in a fast-moving, cloud-native environment.

Please note - this is a hybrid role with an on-call rotation twice a month.

What you'll do

• Build and operate Python-based services on AWS using microservices and event-driven architecture
• Deliver independently deployable features with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and performance
• Write clean, maintainable Python code and contribute to code reviews to maintain high engineering standards
• Own services end to end, including deployment, monitoring, and production support, with out-of-hours participation where required
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code
• Work on systems supporting video ingest, encoding, metadata, and content distribution workflows
• Use observability and metrics to identify issues and improve system performance
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and QA to deliver high-quality solutions

• Strong backend engineering experience with Python as a primary language
• Hands-on experience building and operating services on AWS
• Experience designing and delivering APIs and microservices
• Working knowledge of distributed systems or event-driven architectures
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production support
• Ability to debug and resolve issues in production environments
• Problem solver with a curious, proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership
• A pragmatic mindset with the ability to deliver value while maintaining quality
