Job description

As a Design System Designer (m/f/d) you will play a crucial role in developing our Design system. You can expect to be embedded in a Design system scrum team and collaborate with our internal users and contributors. We use a hybrid approach to the Design system with the Core DS team owning governance, automation, and coordination with the contributing scrum teams across web and mobile.

Your responsibilites:

  • Ownership for Design System inclusive Vision, Roadmap and Backlog
  • Create, evolve, and review components and patterns within our Design system.
  • Maintain and advance foundations, and our three tier design tokens.
  • Document components, their behavior, accessibility standards, and interaction patterns to ensure consistency and prepare our design system to be ready for the AI.
  • Contribute and co-create design-to-code workflows.
  • Partner closely with developers to keep design and code aligned.
  • Embrace automation to reduce manual effort and speed up production.
  • Support and mentor other designers through feedback, collaboration, and mentoring.
  • Drive adoption of the DS across product teams and maesure the usage and impact.
  • Enable adoption and contribution by actively supporting designers and engineers through guidance, reviews, drop-ins, and shared best practices.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product (UX, UX/UI) design experience with meaningful hands-on work experience in Design system.
  • Portfolio showcasing Design system work and a clear explanation of your contribution in the overall process.
  • A sharp eye for detail: you care about color theory, spacing, typography, responsiveness, and consistency. You notice when things don't line up (literally and conceptually).
  • Figma mastery and experience in using documentation tools like Storybook and Supernova.
  • Deep knowledge in design tokens, component libraries, component architecture, automation, and use of AI in building and prototyping with Design system. WCAG Knowledge is optional, but a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to gain buy-in across teams.
  • Proactive, goal-oriented, collaborative, and inclusive attitude towards work and systems-thinking mindset focused on how individual pieces interact within a larger ecosystem.
  • Full working proficiency in English. German and other languages are a plus.
  • Experience designing animations, micro-interactions, and illustrations that enhance usability and delight is a plus.
  • Engineering background is a plus.
