Job description
We are now looking for a hands-on IT Support professional who wants to combine technical expertise with team leadership responsibilities. This is a combined role where approximately 70% of the time is spent delivering IT support and 30% leading and coordinating the IT Support function.
Your Role
As our IT Support Manager, you will work close to users, solving technical issues and ensuring a high level of service, while also taking responsibility for coordinating the support team, setting priorities, and contributing to continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being operationally involved while also developing leadership skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Typical duties will include:
- Coordinating and prioritising the daily work of the IT Support team.
- Providing guidance, coaching and support to team members.
- Ensuring service levels, deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Contributing to planning, improvement initiatives and change activities.
- Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software and system issues.
- Handling incidents, service requests and escalations., Sweco UK&I have an internal resourcing team who are responsible for all recruiting activity. We have a Preferred Supplier List of trusted agencies who we work with on those "hard to fill" roles.
We have defined processes for recruitment applications and it is company policy not to accept speculative CVs. Any speculative CVs received into the business (whether to a manager or member of the resourcing team) will become the property of Sweco and the agency will not be eligible for an introductory fee.
Our Preferred Supplier List was reviewed in November 2025 and we are not looking to add any additional agencies. We'll be reviewing the PSL again at the end of 2026 and non-compliance with the above statements could be detrimental to you having the opportunity to be included.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in IT Support (1st and 2nd line). Experience in a senior, coordinating or informal leadership role would be advantageous.
- Ability to lead, coordinate and motivate others in daily operations.
- Good working knowledge of Windows operating systems and common end-user applications, hardware troubleshooting (PCs, laptops, peripherals) and user accounts/access management (e.g. Active Directory or similar).
- Ability to analyse problems and deliver practical solutions, prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.
- Clear and professional communications skills both written and verbal.
Please note the role will require regular travel, some of which may be international. You may also be required to go through a security clearance process once in role.
