Job description

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. As a key member reporting directly to the Head Engineer, you will lead on a wide variety of design tasks, from developing new products and updating existing ranges, to delivering bespoke customer solutions. You will also play a vital role in mentoring junior engineers and ensuring design work is delivered to the highest standard., * Lead and deliver a mix of projects including:

o New product development

o Design modifications and improvements to existing products

o Bespoke customer requirements

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting their technical development and professional growth.
  • Create and review detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
  • ·Work with MRP systems to manage design data, support planning, and integrate with manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with business needs.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and prototype testing.
  • Stay informed on new materials, technologies, and industry practices to support innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Design, Agricultural, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a design engineering role within machinery, mechanical systems, or related industries.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and good working knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Experience balancing a mix of project types, from product development to bespoke one-offs.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to support and inspire junior engineers.
  • Hands-on problem-solving approach and practical understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, safety requirements, and best practices in machinery design.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
