Job description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our growing digital solutions team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects spanning artificial intelligence, game development, and environmental sustainability., * Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications
- Contribute to AI-based systems and interactive/game development projects
- Develop tools focused on environmental sustainability and carbon tracking
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Ensure timely delivery of projects aligned with requirements and standards
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' commercial experience in software development
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript)
- Experience working in Agile or structured development environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (mandatory)
- Proven experience contributing to or managing software projects
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of AI / Machine Learning technologies
- Experience with sustainability systems (e.g. carbon tracking tools)
- Background in game development or interactive applications
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices
- Experience working with public sector or regulated environments
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to relocate to the Scottish Borders (mandatory)
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK
- Flexibility for occasional travel if required
