Job description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our growing digital solutions team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects spanning artificial intelligence, game development, and environmental sustainability., * Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications

  • Contribute to AI-based systems and interactive/game development projects
  • Develop tools focused on environmental sustainability and carbon tracking
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects aligned with requirements and standards

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' commercial experience in software development
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, Java, JavaScript)
  • Experience working in Agile or structured development environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (mandatory)
  • Proven experience contributing to or managing software projects

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of AI / Machine Learning technologies
  • Experience with sustainability systems (e.g. carbon tracking tools)
  • Background in game development or interactive applications
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and DevOps practices
  • Experience working with public sector or regulated environments

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to relocate to the Scottish Borders (mandatory)
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK
  • Flexibility for occasional travel if required
