We are expanding our development team to support a significant new phase of platform development alongside ongoing production support. We are therefore seeking a junior developer with some commercial or practical experience who is looking to develop their skills within a professional, production-focused environment.
This role is suited to someone who has a solid foundation in web development and is ready to take the next step by working on real-world systems with the support of an experienced team.
About the job
As a junior developer, you will contribute to both new and existing applications using modern .NET technologies, working closely with senior developers and technical staff.
You will be involved in implementing features, resolving issues, and supporting the ongoing development of our platforms. You will be expected to take ownership of smaller tasks and build up to more complex work over time as your experience grows.
This role provides exposure to full-stack development, including front-end interfaces, APIs, and database-driven systems.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain web applications using modern .NET (8+) and C#
· Assist in building and updating applications using ASP.NET Core and Razor Pages
· Work with REST APIs, both consuming and contributing to endpoints
· Write and modify SQL queries and support database-driven functionality
· Implement front-end changes using HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap
· Fix bugs and troubleshoot issues across the application stack with support where required
· Work from defined requirements and technical guidance to deliver assigned tasks
· Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards
· Contribute to documentation and internal knowledge sharing
· Support ongoing efforts to modernise legacy systems, · You will work closely with experienced developers, but will be expected to take responsibility for your own progress and learning

Requirements
We're looking for a developer who is motivated to improve, open to feedback, and keen to build experience working on real production systems.
You should be comfortable with the fundamentals of web development and eager to develop your skills further within a structured team environment., We are specifically looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
· 1-2+ years commercial experience, or equivalent practical/project experience in web development
· Working knowledge of C# and the .NET ecosystem
· Familiarity with ASP.NET Core (Razor Pages or MVC)
· Basic understanding of REST APIs
· Experience writing SQL queries (e.g. SELECT, JOIN, basic data manipulation)
· Strong front-end fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and responsive design
· Practical experience working with Bootstrap for layout and UI components
· Experience using SASS/SCSS to structure and maintain stylesheets
· Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
· Ability to follow technical instructions and ask appropriate questions when needed
· Clear communication skills and a willingness to collaborate
Desirable
· Any exposure to maintaining or working within existing/legacy codebases
· Familiarity with debugging issues across front-end, API and database layers
· Awareness of how web applications are deployed and run in production environments
What to Expect
· You will be working on live, business-critical systems from an early stage
· The role involves a mix of new development, ongoing improvements, and issue resolution
Benefits & conditions
37.5 hour working week, based around a core of Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
We offer 20 days holiday per year, plus 4 customary holidays days which are treated like normal holidays and can be taken at any agreed time, plus four fixed customary holidays (25/26 December, 1/2 January).
Salary will be based on your experience however at a junior level we would expect a starting salary to be around £30k per annum.
