Data Centre Engineer

We are looking for a dedicated Data Center Support Engineer (L1 - Hands & Feet Support) to provide on-site infrastructure support at the customer data center. The role involves assisting remote teams with physical tasks, basic troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth day-to-day data center operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesHands & Feet Support (Physical Infrastructure)

• Ensure data center safety standards, access control, and proper ESD handling
• Perform rack and stack of servers, storage, and network devices
• Handle cable tracing, labeling, and basic cable management
• Perform component replacements (HDD/SSD, SFPs, NICs, PSUs, fans) as per SOPs
• Conduct physical checks including LED status, port connectivity, and link status
• Establish console connections for troubleshooting
• Perform power cycling, reseating of components, and basic loopback tests under remote guidance

Operational Support

• Provide basic Level 1 support including initial issue triage
• Assist with password resets and peripheral setup if required
• Coordinate with remote L2/L3 teams for troubleshooting and issue resolution
• Escort vendors and support third-party engineers during on-site visits
• Manage shipment handling, RMA processing, and packing of faulty equipment
• Maintain and update inventory records

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• 0-2 years of experience in IT support or data center operations
• Basic understanding of:
• Data center environments and hardware components
• Networking fundamentals
• Server and storage hardware
• Familiarity with ESD and data center safety practices
• Ability to follow SOPs and work under remote supervision
