Job description

team.blue is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our Infrastructure Engineering Team in Leiden. This is an influential role that demands a high level of creativity and a genuine passion for new technology and methods. Working in a team of highly-skilled technologists, this role is responsible for maintaining the systems that ensure our operation runs 24/7/365. The applications we support have to be highly reliable, highly scalable, and take full advantage of our platform and global reach. team.blue prides itself on the creative use of technology. As the boundary between the application-layer and platform-layer becomes increasingly blurred, this role is pivotal and demands a broad technical understanding and passion for the Hosting industry.

How your day will look like

  • Part of the Infrastructure & Engineering team deploying and maintaining highly reliable, highly scalable systems and applications.
  • Providing support, exception handling, and mentoring for operational and development teams regarding Linux systems, related applications, and configuration management.
  • Create, design, deploy, improve, and maintain Storage systems and related applications for our DTAP street.
  • Defining, improving, and implementing internal processes and standards.
  • Collaborating with other departments; translate needs into solutions.
  • Manage tools through their entire life-cycle, including documentation and version control.
  • Facilitating Agile work streams for the technical teams.
  • A bias towards open-source technologies over 3rd party, proprietary solutions
  • Happy to represent the business on open-source projects you are passionate about.

Requirements

  • Expertise in provisioning techniques (For example, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Ability to make the following systems sing
  • Linux servers (mostly Ubuntu & FreeBSD binary compatible)
  • Distributed storage systems like OpenZFS, CEPH
  • Virtualization and orchestration through QEMU, Libvirt
  • Container management and deployment (through Kubernetes and Rancher).
  • Enterprise Applications (like DNS/BIND, LDAP, GIT, Elastic stack, Jira etc)
  • Cloud & scaling tools, Load balancers, Rabbitmq etc.
  • Database technology (MySQL, PostgreSQL, ETCD, InfluxDB)
  • IP Networking infrastructure & Security
  • Scripting to automate (via Bash or Python)
  • Owning logging and monitoring systems (Icinga, Grafana)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with physical and software defined networking techniques is a plus
  • Keen documenter and contributor to the team.blue's continuous improvement
