Role Title: Security Engineer Location: Hybrid 60% office-40% Remote/Knutsford WA16 9EU Duration: 30/07/2026

Role Description: Technology platforms: Expert knowledge in at least one industry-prevalent DSPM platform such as Varonis, Cyera, BigID etc.

Job Description: As an experienced Security Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data security platform software. Your expertise will drive the expansion of our product roadmap and strengthen our security posture across the organisation. Key responsibilities include scanning diverse areas of the estate to identify sensitive data, recommending and implementing remediation actions, and automating escalation and remediation workflows. You will also provide actionable insights into potential threats and their mitigations. In addition, you will leverage your knowledge alongside insights gained from our Data Security scanning processes covering areas such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Data Privacy and Protection, DSPM/CSPM (Cloud Security Posture Management), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), and vulnerability management.

Primary Responsibilities? Drive Data Security platform and scanning infrastructure enhancements in line with agreed budget and strategy. Work alongside engineers to contribute to the design and delivery of Data Security services. Support stakeholders in leveraging and adopting the latest Data Security cloud-native application architectures. Ensure all Data Security architecture and cloud infrastructure accommodates the latest security and software life cycle patterns.

Standard Technical Skills & Competencies Knowledge of product data connectors and relevant config/features for data pipeline, labels, etc. Deployment & configuration: Helm chart management, cluster integration, multi-environment setup (Dev/UAT/Prod/DR). Scanning & remediation: Structured/unstructured data scans (SMB, Confluence, Jira), policy application, remediation workflows. Containerisation: Docker and Kubernetes experience for deployment and management. Customize data discovery policies, classifiers, and connectors to meet regulatory, privacy, and security requirements (eg, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA). Implement and optimize data discovery workflows utilizing Scripting capabilities for scalability and performance. Proficiency in SQL, Scripting languages (eg, Python or equivalent), and hands-on experience with cloud environments.

Platform & Infrastructure Kubernetes/OpenShift, Helm. AWS/Azure (based on Client's preferred platform). Linux CLI and system troubleshooting. Security & Compliance Data classification, retention, deletion, privacy automation. IAM, credential management, secure vaults (CyberArk/CSM). DevOps & Automation Python, Bash, PowerShell Scripting. Process documentation and collaboration with infra/security/governance teams. Scripting & Programming: Python or Shell Scripting for automation and customization. Databases: Familiarity with RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra). Data Governance & Security Skills o Privacy Frameworks: Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, NIST, and OWASP. o Data Security: Experience with data classification, DLP, IAM, and risk mitigation.

Additional experience: Risk Management and working experience and understanding different delivery methods, eg Scrum, Kanban, JIRA, Agile etc Experience in working end to end with software development life cycles. 5+ years in DevOps, Security Engineering, or Infrastructure roles.

Desirable: Previous experience in the financial/regulated sector Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a related discipline CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
