Head of IT

At Best Lives, we are looking for a dynamic and hands-on Head of IT to lead and develop our IT function across multiple services.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys both strategic influence and technical delivery. You'll play a key role in ensuring our systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with the needs of our services, while also leading and developing a skilled IT team.

Duties

• Lead, support and develop a small IT team, managing workloads, performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide hands-on technical support where needed, while overseeing IT infrastructure including networks, servers, and cloud systems.
• Manage complex technical issues and escalations, ensuring systems remain secure, compliant, and operating efficiently.
• Oversee deployment of hardware, systems, and upgrades across the organisation.
• Maintain data security and access controls, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, Cyber Essentials, DSPT, and CQC standards.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Work closely with the Director of IT on projects, system improvements, and integration of new or bespoke software.
• Contribute to strategic IT planning and service development.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation, represent IT at senior level, and produce reports and technical documentation.

• Experience in a senior IT role or team leadership position
• Microsoft 365 & Google Workspace
• Windows Server / Entra ID (Azure AD)
• Networking (WiFi, VLANs, firewalls)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure / Google Cloud)
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable

• IT qualifications (Degree, ITIL, Microsoft, Cisco etc.)
• Experience within health or social care environments
• Knowledge of IP telephony systems (e.g. 3CX)
• Experience managing mobile device environments

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £40,000.00 per year
