Job description
As a Senior Systems Engineer within ESS, you play a central role in the technical direction of our multidisciplinary R&D Product Teams. You act as the link between the Commercial Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, Technology Manager, Architects, and Engineers, ensuring a structured and integrated approach to product development.
Your work focuses on system architecture, requirements engineering, risk control, validation planning, and ensuring seamless subsystem integration across our ESS platforms., * Define the high-level product architecture together with the Technology Manager, Architects, and (Lead) Engineers.
- Structure, refine, and maintain subsystem requirements.
- Manage the requirements hierarchy using our Requirements Management Software.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify system-level risks and define mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant technical and regulatory standards (e.g., IEC, safety regulations).
- Define and guide verification and validation plans.
Integration & Delivery
- Ensure complete system integration within agreed timelines, budgets, and quality targets.
- Oversee technical documentation and ensure completeness and consistency.
- Deliver the final technical construction dossier for ESS products.
Leadership & Knowledge Development
- Mentor junior and mid-level colleagues and support knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the evolution of Systems Engineering methods and best practices.
- Ensure alignment within the Systems Engineering team and the wider R&D organization.
Requirements
We are looking for a structured, technically driven professional who brings clarity, direction, and systems thinking into complex R&D environments. You act as the technical conscience of the product team and a key sparring partner for the Technical Product Manager.
- Completed HBO/WO degree in a relevant technical field.
- Experience with system architecture and requirements management (experience with Jama is a plus).
- Proven experience as a Senior Systems Engineer in multidisciplinary R&D projects, ideally within energy, power systems, or industrial environments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Excellent command of Dutch and English.
