Application Architect Onsite in Bracknell Eligible for DV clearance £65-70K per annum + benefits package
We are recruiting an Application Architect to support the ongoing evolution of a Gateway solution for a strategic UK defence customer. Working alongside senior solution leaders, you'll contribute to secure design, controlled change, and operational resilience within a mission-critical environment. This is a development opportunity for an aspiring architect looking to build design authority and architectural experience in a high-assurance setting. The Role
You will:
- Contribute to infrastructure and Gateway design changes to maintain availability and performance
- Produce structured design documentation alongside the customer and Programme Manager
- Support architectural governance and ensure alignment to solution intent
- Provide technical oversight during incident troubleshooting with SOC and 3rd Line teams
- Assist in maintaining secure, resilient and scalable infrastructure components across Windows and Linux environments
Your technical experience;Core Infrastructure
- VMware/vSphere
- RHEL & Windows Server
- Microsoft Services
- Active Directory, including Group Policy (GPO), DNS integration
Linux & Platform Engineering
- Experience working within Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
- Ability to write scripts to automate operational or security processes
- Familiarity with pattern matching techniques and regular expressions (Regex), particularly within security or antivirus tooling
- Configuration and management of the standard RHEL firewall
- Exposure to Linux-based security tooling and antivirus technologies
Networking & Gateway Technologies
- Citrix NetScaler
- Wireshark
- Understanding of Gateway appliances and associated software
- Knowledge of secure communications protocols, including messaging platforms such as XMPP
Storage & Data
- NetApp SAN
- NAS
- Backup solutions
Security & Web
- PKI management applications
- Web applications and protocols
- Experience supporting file validation, inspection, and content verification within secure transfer environments
