Job description

We are seeking a Snr Quantitative Business Analyst/Snr Technical Business Analyst to support the design, delivery, and optimisation of our Analytics & Modelling Platform across Gas, LNG, and Power markets.

This role sits at the intersection of energy fundamentals, quantitative modelling, and technology.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Quant Analysts, Fundamental Analysts, Data Scientists, Developers, and Product Owners within an Agile delivery environment. The focus of the role is to translate complex modelling and analytical requirements into scalable data and platform capabilities that support supply-demand modelling, price forecasting, and scenario analysis across European and global energy markets (including major hubs such as TTF and JKM).

This role focuses on strengthening the analytical foundations that inform strategic and commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics & Modelling Partnership

Act as the primary Business Analysis partner to Energy Analytics, Quantitative and Modelling teams across Gas, LNG, and Power markets.

Elicit, analyse, and document complex modelling and forecasting requirements, including supply-demand balances, price forecasting, and scenario modelling across European and global energy markets.

Translate quantitative methodologies and analytical concepts into structured, actionable technical requirements.

Support the design and evolution of the Analytics & Modelling Platform (AMP Platform), including modelling frameworks, data pipelines, and analytical tooling.

Ensure modelling requirements are scalable, reusable, and aligned with platform architecture standards.

Quantitative & Technical Delivery

Work alongside Quantitative Analysts and Data Scientists to deliver and support:

o Feature engineering requirements and dataset design

o Model training, validation, and deployment workflows

o Integration of statistical and forecasting models into production-grade systems

Define and structure requirements for large, complex datasets, including market data, fundamentals, weather, flows, storage, and cross-commodity inputs (Gas-LNG-Power linkages).

Support Python-based analytics and modelling solutions, ensuring requirements are precise, testable, and implementation-ready.

Ensure traceability from analytical use case - modelling logic - data transformation - technical delivery.

Contribute to model documentation standards and life cycle management processes.

Agile Delivery & Stakeholder Management

Operate as an integral member of the Front Office Analytics team within an Agile delivery framework.

Contribute to backlog creation and prioritisation, user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications.

Drive alignment between stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure shared understanding of scope, priorities, and delivery timelines.

Facilitate stakeholder demonstrations and feedback sessions to validate incremental platform and modelling enhancements.

Coordinate and oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring requirements are fully validated prior to production release.

Support production deployment, stabilisation, and post-release issue resolution in collaboration with engineering teams.

Proactively manage dependencies, risks, and delivery constraints within a complex analytics ecosystem.

Requirements

Hard Skills

Strong knowledge of European and global Gas, LNG, and Power markets, including fundamentals, supply-demand balances, storage dynamics, flows, and hub pricing (eg, TTF, JKM).

Proven XP in energy analytics and fundamental forecasting, including scenario modelling across short-, mid- and long-term horizons.

Solid understanding of feature engineering, statistical modelling, and ML model training workflows, with the ability to translate business requirements into model-ready datasets.

Strong Python Scripting skills (eg, pandas, NumPy, JupyterHub) for data transformation, analysis, and model interaction.

Demonstrated ability to work with large, complex, and multi-source datasets (market data, weather, flows, outages, fundamentals).

Comfortable interfacing with quantitative and mathematical optimisation models, including validation of inputs/outputs and interpretation of model outputs and analytical results.

XP working with market data from major hubs such as TTF and JKM and understanding cross-commodity linkages (Gas-LNG-Power).

Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms and data pipelines (preferred).

Soft skills

Self-starter with ability to operate independently in complex analytical environments

Strong collaboration skills across Quant, Data Science, and Engineering teams

Ability to distil complex modelling concepts into clear, structured requirements

Demonstrable XP coordinating delivery of complex initiatives in Agile environments

Strong facilitation, influencing, and stakeholder alignment capabilities

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills

High levels of ownership, integrity, and accountability
