Job description
The post holder will be an integral member of the Digital Division developing solutions to departmental requirements and providing support to the team at a technical level, playing a key role in implementing the department's Digital Strategy., The post holder will be required to possess and further develop an understanding of the various applications & programming disciplines which the Digital Division uses to develop, implement and maintain new functionality based on specified requirements which will assist in the efficiency of the Trust's business. These include, 1. Form an integral part of the data engineering team and liaise closely with other Information Management areas including Web Development, Data Quality, Reporting and Clinical Coding.
- Develop and maintain application interface messaging for the Trust throughout a project lifecycle and beyond.
- Provide support for the creation and implementation of applications using available resources to meet requirements of the Divisions and NHS Standards.
- Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Trust's data warehouse, electronic document transfer (EDT Hub) system and Information Reporting solutions using applications such as Visual studio with SQL server Integration services (SSIS), Visual Studio code and InterSystems Studio.
- Design, develop and implement new functionality of new and existing systems based on specific requirements.
- Ensure specialist or complex Trust systems information is processed in accordance with policies & procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation and procedures of systems to the Trust standard, ensuring suitable handover for the provision of on-going support.
- Provide 3^rd line support to users and peers on systems where appropriate.
- Raise staff awareness of web-based information services being implemented by the Business Intelligence Department.
- Advise and promote the use of systems across the Trust, working closely with users to ensure best service is available and user objectives are achieved.
- Keep up to date with new technologies and advances in NHS information systems.
- Ensure that all routine procedures, such as backups, are implemented and documented.
- Any other duties as and when required via prior assessment and agreement with the Principal Data Engineer (Integration)
Requirements
· InterSystems Ensemble
· Microsoft Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code
· C#, InterSystems Object Script, TSQL, ASP.NET, CSS, HTML4/5
· Microsoft SQL Server Suite (SSIS)
· IIS Web Server
· Source Control software
The post holder will also have an excellent understanding of the main areas of Digital's work, namely Integration, Application Development, Data-Warehousing, Reporting, and Business Intelligence and how these fit in with the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts' operations and business., * Degree in a related subject or demonstrable equivalent experience in designing and delivering health informatics applications and solutions, * Relevant development qualifications e.g. Agile, Prince 2 foundation, Essential criteria
- Experience of NHS IT
- Knowledge and Experience with Health Level 7 (HL7)
Desirable criteria
- Experience with using BI Reporting solutions such as SSRS and PowerBI
- Experience of developing solutions using either of the following languages and frameworks: C#, Object Script, ASP.net, dotnet Core, Entity Framework, Angular, CSS, HTML4/5, JavaScript, JQuery, TSQL, * Ability to utilise technology to achieve direct business benefits.
- Understanding of NHS Digital functions
- Skills in using Integration Engine Middleware applications
- Good understanding of Programming languages and concepts
- Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and databases

- Knowledge of computer networking and system analysis

- Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.
