Job description

General Services (GSUK) aims to create a seamless and inspiring workplace that empowers our employees to innovate and thrive, while optimising our built assets for long-term value and sustainability. They will play a crucial role supporting the delivery of business objectives through the delivery of land rights for and the delivery of large-scale, 10-year investment plan more than £350m across the ScottishPower estate.

The increased volume of delivery and systems to support this delivery requires specialised focus on how we govern and report on the data we use. The Data Governance & Reporting Lead, reporting to the Business Analytics & Reporting Manager, will be responsible for leading the adoption and embedding of the GSUK Data Governance framework, supported by data governance tools and solutions, to ensure the ongoing confidentiality, integrity and availability of data, insights and reporting. The role will ensure the required level of data quality is in place to build a trust in the information that we centrally report on.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks, ensuring robust policies, standards, and controls are embedded across GSUK to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance
  • Define and enforce data quality standards across master data and key systems, embedding processes that build trust in centrally reported information and enable accurate decision-making
  • Lead Performance & Reporting Mgmt. (PRM) activities at Objective, Programme and Project levels, including updates on risk management, change management, and document management
  • Own the PRM process and the monthly reporting cadence
  • Deliver comprehensive training on data governance principles, policies, and best practices to PMO and wider GSUK teams, enabling consistent implementation of governance frameworks and strengthening data quality across all processes
  • Ensure that the monthly reporting cycle is adhered to, to enable information flows and transparency
  • Develop and deliver integrated reporting solutions and executive dashboards that provide actionable insights, monitor organisational data health, and support strategic planning for GSUK
  • Own the GSUK Portfolio, Strategic Objectives & Programme PowerBI dashboards
  • Work in conjunction with Contract managers to oversee KPIs and reporting requirements for incoming Contractors to follow
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the GSUK Portfolio by championing Lessons Learned

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, or information systems
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance principles and best practices
  • Prior experience of developing a data catalogue is highly desirable
  • Experience in building and modelling data quality analytics and baselines using Informatica
  • Expert knowledge of data warehouse and MI environments and practices to build, develop and maintain data integrity
  • At least five years of experience monitoring, managing, and manipulating data
  • Familiar with at least one computer language e.g., SQL, SAS, R, Python
  • Demonstrated business acumen and analytical skills for effective and efficient problem-solving
  • Proficiency in the development, documentation, and communication of analytical plans
  • Strong consulting skills with the ability to translate detailed complex business analyses into concise senior management-level recommendations
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to operational excellence and quality
  • Expertise and practical experience of creating customer segmentation models

Minimum Criteria

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, software engineering, or information systems
  • Proven experience in data governance, data management, data quality or similar role
  • Strong understanding of Data Governance principles and best practices
  • Experience in data governance tools, in particular Informatica
  • Expert knowledge of data warehousing and MI environments and practices to build, develop and maintain data integrity, with a focus on data quality modelling
  • Proficiency in preparing analysis, reports and presentations for senior management
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
