Job description
The Data Scientist is a key member of the Data & Analytics team, responsible for the delivery of functional strategies, always modelling the Post Office behaviours and demonstrating a Postmaster first mindset. The Data Scientist will work closely with the Head of Data Science and Engineering to set the direction for data science across Post Office, prioritising high value use cases, to design, develop, and productionise models that improve revenue, cost efficiency, and risk management., Our commitment to embracing diversity extends beyond just words. Requirements
- Experienced strategic data professional with proven experience collaborating with peers and senior managers, to contribute to the development of, and deliver, a functional strategy to achieve business objectives.
- Substantial experience in establishing successful, cross functional, stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering projects to achieve key objectives.
- Proven leadership of data science teams delivering production models and measurable benefits in complex environments, including low data maturity contexts.
- Hands on experience building models and services on AWS, for example SageMaker, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Lambda, Step Functions.
- Strong record of experimentation design, A or B testing, champion and challenger approaches, and causal inference where appropriate.
- Evidence of POC development and end to end productionisation with robust monitoring, governance, and support.
- Commercial acumen with experience building value cases, benefits frameworks, and translating insights into financial and operational outcomes.
- Experience in retail or branch network operations is strongly preferred.
