Job description

As a specialist Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure APIs and integration solutions. You will work with Azure API Management (API-M) and Red Hat OpenShift to enable seamless communication between internal systems, external partners, and cloud-native applications. This role focuses on modern RESTful APIs via Azure API Management (API-M), SOAP-based services using WSDL, and containerised deployments on Red Hat OpenShift. It is critical in driving digital transformation and ensuring the interoperability of enterprise systems.

Requirements

We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who meet the following criteria:

  • RedHat certified specialist in OpenShift Administration
  • Significant relevant API experience
  • Exposure to other API gateways (e.g., Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway)
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficiency in SOAP, WSDL, and XML-based service contracts
  • Experience driving automation and operational efficiency
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON, XML
  • Hands-on experience configuring API-M policies, subscriptions, and developer portals
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, API keys, IP filtering, and rate limiting
  • Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift: container orchestration, Helm charts, and Kubernetes fundamentals
  • Extensive knowledge with CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ARM/Bicep templates or Terraform
  • Experience with integration patterns and tools (e.g., Apache Camel, MuleSoft, or similar)
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, .NET, Node.js, or Python
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics
  • Ability to write clear API documentation and usage guides
  • Extensive knowledge of IT support and development activities, encompassing the full Software Development lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain SOAP-based web services using WSDL specifications
  • Expert understanding of cloud architecture., Any offer made will remain conditional until pre-employment checks are complete to a level deemed satisfactory by SP Electricity North West.
