Job description

This is a varied, hands-on Systems Administrator role covering cloud services, infrastructure, networking, security, web hosting, and user support. You will work across a broad range of technologies and play a key role in maintaining and improving our secure IT environment., * System & Network Administration: Manage and maintain our core infrastructure, servers, and networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi).

  • IT Support & Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve end-user issues via our ticketing system. Use these insights to proactively improve our systems.
  • Cloud Management: Administer Microsoft 365 services, AWS-hosted services, and our Linux-based web servers.
  • Security & Compliance: Maintain security policies, support Cyber Essentials Plus compliance, run phishing simulations, and monitor alerts.
  • Training & Documentation: Support the Operations Director in producing and delivering internal IT training, while maintaining the asset register and IT documentation.
  • Disaster Recovery: Develop, test, and manage robust backup and disaster recovery procedures.

About our tech stack

You'll be working in a modern, self-managed, secure environment that includes:

  • Core: Microsoft 365 (Azure, Entra, Intune, Defender, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive, etc.), Windows Server, Hyper-V, Windows 11 and Android endpoints.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS, Cloudflare, Veeam, Synology, UniFi/Dell/Draytek networking.
  • Web & Apps: PHP/LAMP, GitLab, Debian/Ubuntu, WordPress/WooCommerce, Bitwarden, Freshdesk, Bookstack.

Requirements

We do not expect applicants to have experience in every listed area; a solid technical foundation, willingness to learn, and strong communication skills matter most.

Success in this role means being technically capable, security-minded, calm under pressure, and able to support users with patience, clarity and professionalism., * Proven experience in an IT helpdesk or technical support role

  • Proven experience with Microsoft 365 administration
  • Good understanding of infrastructure, networks and operating systems
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent communication, patience and diplomacy
  • Ability to write clear documentation
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Computing degree or formal IT qualifications
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, bash, Regex)
  • Linux or PHP/LAMP experience
  • AWS experience
  • Familiarity with full-stack development
