Job description
As an Android Engineer in the Grocery & Retail domain, you'll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional environment that spans multiple teams and locations in the catalogue enablement team. Our mission is to create seamless experiences that unlock new opportunities for both our customers and grocery partners. You'll work closely with colleagues across London, Berlin, Bristol and Amsterdam, bringing together diverse expertise to deliver impact at scale. In this role, you'll play a key part in driving collaboration and technical excellence. Partnering with product owners, web and mobile engineers, and backend teams, you'll design and deliver new features, refine existing ones, improve performance, and streamline our platforms. Your work will help shape robust, scalable solutions that support millions of customers worldwide. These are some of the key components to the position:
- Product Definition: Collaborate with engineering teams and Product Managers in workshops to contribute significantly to defining new product features.
- Technical Ownership: Consistently deliver high-quality software that meets team best practices and expectations.
- Project Management: Take complete ownership of components you develop, managing timelines and transparently communicating progress towards wider team and organizational goals.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Share your progress and ideas with your team, and contribute to the growth of the Android guild by sharing new development practices, patterns, and standards.
- Take responsibility for supporting your changes all the way through to proving that they work well - and continue to work well - in production.
Requirements
We're looking for a collaborative, proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented individual with a passion for innovation. Your technical toolkit should include:
- Strong development experience using Kotlin, including integration and unit testing.
- Strong understanding and experience with Android architecture (multi-modules, Dependency Injection, MVVM).
- Proficiency in building user interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
- Proven experience integrating with server-side APIs within a Microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- A solid understanding of developing software using isolated and reusable components.
- A keen eye for code design, prioritising efficiency and readability.
- Knowledge and experience with experimentation and A/B testing.
- Able to work independently, taking responsibility for the technical delivery of key technical initiatives within a given workstream.
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills (we're advocates of inner-sourced software development at JET!).
