Job description
As a Senior FPGA Engineer, you will design and implement FPGA and SoC-based solutions for advanced medical systems, with a strong focus on high-bandwidth streaming applications, high-speed interfaces, and complex signal processing. You will work across the full development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, and release, on assignments that range from structured long-term projects to more exploratory engineering challenges in a multicultural, global organization., Design, implement, and verify FPGA designs based on customer and product requirements Contribute to requirements definition, architecture, implementation, testing, and release Develop high-speed designs and interfaces for medical devices and platforms Perform system-level debugging and functional simulations Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in design and code reviews Estimate work, contribute to planning, and maintain personal and team backlogs Create and maintain clear specifications and design documentation Communicate progress and technical decisions in a clear, structured way to stakeholders
Requirements
Experience & technical skills Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Informatics, or a related field 10+ years of relevant experience preferred (strong profiles from 5+ years will be seriously considered) Strong expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog Hands-on experience with major FPGA vendors and their toolchains Proven experience in high-speed digital design and high-speed interfaces Strong debugging skills using system-level debug techniques and simulation test benches Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and regression test frameworks Solid track record in writing specifications and design documentation Background in safety-critical or high-reliability domains (e.g., automotive, aerospace, defense, medical) is highly valued Working style & soft skills Based in, or willing to relocate to, the Eindhoven region; hybrid setup with at least 3 days/week onsite (100% remote is not possible) Comfortable working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment with global stakeholders Flexible and adaptable: able to handle changing assignments, projects, and secondments Fluent in English, with the ability to engage in deep technical discussions and interact confidently with internal customers worldwide Able to work on both well-structured projects and less-defined, "messy" engineering challenges Honest, self-aware, and motivated by meaningful technical impact in healthcare Strong drive for continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and openness to quality reviews and peer feedback
