Job description

The Website Operations Manager is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development, and delivery of client websites across a diverse portfolio, predominantly built on WordPress using Elementor. This role owns the technical and operational management of websites, from day-to-day updates and optimisation through to the planning and execution of new builds and web projects.

Sitting at the intersection of client requirements, design, development, and hosting infrastructure, the Website Operations Manager ensures all websites are stable, secure, performant, and aligned with client objectives. They lead web project implementation, manage staging and live environments, coordinate launches, and act as the internal authority on website best practice., Website Management & Maintenance

  • Manage and maintain a portfolio of WordPress websites built primarily on Elementor.
  • Perform regular updates including WordPress core, themes, plugins, and Elementor.
  • Monitor site health, performance, uptime, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, bugs, and conflicts.
  • Ensure websites remain compliant with best practices (performance, SEO fundamentals, accessibility basics).

Website Development & Build Support

  • Assist the in-house web developer with building and updating websites and landing pages using WordPress and Elementor.
  • Implement page layouts, components, and templates based on supplied designs under developer guidance.
  • Support theme and style customisations to meet brand and functional requirements.
  • Work across a wide range of site types, including:
  • E-commerce (WooCommerce)
  • Portfolio and brochure sites
  • Global and multi-region websites with language (WPML)
  • Ensure all pages and updates are responsive, performant, and cross-browser compatible.
  • Conduct quality checks and testing on new builds, updates, and components before deployment.
  • Provide ongoing support during development sprints, helping with troubleshooting and minor enhancements as directed

Web Project Management & Implementation

  • Manage the implementation of website projects from build through to launch. (Supported by Dedicated Project Manager.)
  • Collaborate with designers, copywriters, and account leads to deliver projects on time.
  • Create and manage project timelines, task lists, and dependencies.
  • Own go-live processes, including pre-launch checks, testing, and post-launch validation.
  • Maintain and execute go-live checklists covering performance, security, SEO basics, and functionality.

Staging, Hosting & Environments

  • Set up and manage staging and development environments for client websites.
  • Coordinate deployments from staging to live environments.
  • Work closely with a third-party hosting provider to manage:
  • Hosting setup and migrations
  • DNS changes
  • SSL certificates
  • Backups and restore processes
  • Act as the main technical liaison between the agency and hosting partners.

Performance, Security & Best Practice

  • Implement and manage caching, image optimisation, and performance enhancements.
  • Ensure backups, security plugins, and monitoring tools are correctly configured.
  • Respond to and resolve security issues or vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain documentation for site configurations and key technical details.

Client & Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with Digital Marketing Leads and Account teams to support client objectives.
  • Provide technical input during planning and scoping of website-related work.
  • Advise clients and internal teams on website capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
  • Translate client requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Support ongoing optimisation and iteration post-launch.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage website migrations, rebuilds, and redesigns.
  • Implement basic on-page SEO elements (meta data, structure, performance).
  • Support marketing initiatives with landing pages, forms, and integrations.
  • Maintain consistent internal processes for website delivery and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, tooling, and technical standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing WordPress websites in a creative or digital agency environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Elementor (including templates, global styles, and custom layouts).
  • Solid understanding of WordPress architecture, plugins, and theme customisation.
  • Experience managing staging and live environments.
  • Familiarity with WooCommerce and e-commerce website management.
  • Understanding of website performance optimisation, security, and best practices.
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive problem-solver.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across creative and technical teams.
  • Basic PHP, CSS, or JavaScript knowledge
  • Experience with form integrations (HubSpot, Mailchimp, etc.)
  • Experience working with global or multi-language websites
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG basics), * Website management: 2 years (required)

Pay: £26,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
