About the role:
As a DataStage Developer with experience in the banking/financial services domain, you will collaborate with our client's data and technology teams. You will be responsible for designing, building, and supporting ETL data pipelines using IBM DataStage, ensuring high-quality and reliable data delivery in a regulated environment.
Job Details:
Role Title: DataStage Developer Location: Manchester Work Setup: Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week Contract Duration: Until 31/12/2026 Rate: £305 per day via Umbrella only (Inside IR35)
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL jobs and sequences using IBM DataStage
- Build end-to-end data pipelines from source systems to data warehouse/downstream platforms
- Perform data profiling, validation, and reconciliation to ensure data quality
- Optimise DataStage jobs for performance and reliability
- Troubleshoot ETL failures and support production issues
- Work closely with DBAs, Unix teams, schedulers, and application teams
- Create and maintain technical documentation and mapping specifications
- Follow banking controls, SDLC, and change management processes
Other stuff we're potentially looking for:
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataStage (11.x preferred)
- Solid understanding of ETL and data warehousing concepts
- Good SQL / PL-SQL skills
- Experience with UNIX / shell scripting
- Hands-on experience with DataStage Parallel Jobs, Lookups, Transformers, and database connectors (Oracle / DB2 / Teradata)
- Banking or financial services experience (nice to have)
- Exposure to batch scheduling tools (TWS / IWS)
- Experience supporting live production environments
