Job description

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer / Cloud Engineer with strong AWS and infrastructure-as-code experience to join our team.

This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure engineering, reliability, and developer enablement, with a strong focus on building and operating cloud-native platforms and container-based architectures.

You will play a key role in designing, building and operating scalable infrastructure on AWS, enabling secure and reliable communication between microservices while embedding automation, observability and reliability across the platform.

This is a hands-on engineering role, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex operational challenges, improving developer experience through automation, and taking ownership of modern cloud platforms., * Design, deploy and maintain cloud-native infrastructure and platform services on AWS

  • Manage and optimise containerised workloads using Amazon ECS (Fargate or EC2)
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, following modular and reusable patterns
  • Operate and configure Kong data planes, ensuring secure and reliable API routing
  • Implement and manage DNS configurations using AWS Route 53, including hosted zones and routing policies
  • Deliver service discovery and service-to-service communication using AWS Cloud Map and ECS Service Connect
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to build scalable, secure and observable microservice environments
  • Implement CI/CD best practices and contribute to the automation of platform infrastructure
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise cloud environments for performance, reliability and cost efficiency
  • Ensure infrastructure aligns with security, compliance and operational best practices

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience working in SRE, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles
  • Solid experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience managing containerised workloads with ECS
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform, including module design and remote state management
  • Experience operating API gateways such as Kong, including routing, services and plugins
  • Strong understanding of AWS Route 53 and DNS management
  • Experience implementing service discovery using AWS Cloud Map and ECS Service Connect
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, security groups, load balancers)
  • Experience working with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive operational mindset

Desirable

  • An AWS Certification
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling
  • Familiarity with container build optimisation and image lifecycle management (ECR, multi-stage builds)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as CloudWatch or Datadog
  • Knowledge of IAM best practices, secrets management and infrastructure security
  • Understanding of distributed systems and high-availability architectures
  • Previous experience working in an SRE or Platform Engineering function, * Applicants must have strong AWS and Terraform experience with containerised workloads.

Pay: £50,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
