Job description
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join the Whitespace Infrastructure Team, supporting the Whitespace product. In this role, you will design, build, and maintain automation, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure that enable fast, secure, and reliable software delivery. You will work closely with engineering, architecture, operations, and security teams to improve developer experience and ensure systems are scalable, stable, and observable.

CI/CD and Automation Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, repeatable deployments. Automate build, test, and release processes. Promote best practices in branching, build automation, and release management.

Cloud Infrastructure and IaC Design and manage cloud infrastructure across Azure and/or AWS. Use Infrastructure as Code such as Ansible, Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation. Create scalable, resilient, and cost-effective environments.

Containerisation and Orchestration Develop and maintain containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes. Ensure container security, compliance, and standardisation.

Monitoring and Reliability Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions such as Datadog, Dynatrace, or Azure Monitor. Support SRE practices including performance tuning and incident response. Participate in on-call rotations where required.

Security and DevSecOps Integrate security scanning into CI/CD pipelines including SAST, DAST, and container scanning. Manage secrets securely using tools such as Key Vault or Vault. Ensure systems meet security and compliance standards.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement Work closely with developers, QA, and operations to improve delivery and reliability. Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing. Identify and implement improvements to tooling and processes.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Strong experience with Azure and/or AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Ansible.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Good understanding of networking, security, and Linux or Windows systems.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience with service mesh, API gateways, or ingress controllers.
- Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of SRE principles such as SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
- Experience with cloud cost optimisation (FinOps).Relevant certifications in Azure, AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
