Job description
FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Technical Solutions Architect to work for our client within the Public Sector. This is initially a 6-12-month contract with strong potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Glasgow.
Our client is undergoing a major digital transformation programme within Forensic Services, focusing on modernising estate accommodation and automating scientific results. This role is central to driving technical design, solution governance and enterprise architecture standards across the programme. You will act as the Technical Design Authority, shaping solution options, supporting technical documentation for tenders, and ensuring all architecture aligns with strategic direction., * Develop and maintain consistent enterprise architecture models across the project, ensuring reuse and alignment with wider programme architecture
- Lead architecture development activities, identifying technical innovations and working closely with business, technical teams and supplier partners
- Translate business requirements into solution options, designs and implementation assessments aligned to enterprise architecture standards
- Support technical elements of business cases, technical requirements and ITT documentation, acting as Technical Design Authority throughout delivery
- Oversee technical quality across the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and handed over smoothly into production
Requirements
- Strong experience developing end-to-end solution designs and full lifecycle architectural views using frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman
- Ability to work with project managers and business analysts to understand requirements, dependencies and translate these into effective technical designs
- Proven capability in technical governance, stakeholder engagement and evaluating vendor offerings against strategic direction
- Experience in producing technical content for tenders/ITT and engaging third-party suppliers
- Minimum 5 years' experience in enterprise or solution architecture roles within complex technical environments, ideally public sector or policing
Tech/Tools & Knowledge
- Understanding of ITIL Service Management principles (ITIL Foundation desirable)
- Experience with architectural frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman)
- Familiarity with business process modelling, technical authoring and project management practices (e.g. PRINCE2)
- Knowledge of core ICT systems used within policing is desirable

- Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Security Clearance: Management Vetting (NPPV3)
