Job description

Overview An excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer / Maintenance Engineer to join a growing team in the data centre and critical infrastructure sector, one of the UK's most secure and high-growth industries. The Role As a Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer, you will maintain and support critical electrical infrastructure within a live data centre environment, including:

  • UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
  • Standby generators
  • LV/HV electrical distribution systems
  • Switchgear and control systems
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)

You will work in a safety-critical, high-performance environment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations

  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
  • Maintain and fault-find critical electrical systems
  • Complete technical reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Use CMMS systems for job tracking and compliance
  • Support 24/7 operations, including on-call rota participation
  • Respond to and escalate critical incidents effectively

Team & Contractor Management

  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe working practices
  • Assist with remedial works, upgrades, and small projects

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) standards
  • Attend training, team meetings, and technical briefings

Requirements

  • Level 2 & Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • Experience in electrical maintenance (facilities, building services, or industrial environments)
  • Strong fault-finding and PPM knowledge
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • Experience in data centres or critical environments
  • HVAP / LVAP Authorisation
  • Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
