Reporting to the Head of Systems Engineering, this is a fantastic opportunity for a forward-thinking Systems Engineer to shape the backbone of our technology landscape. You'll design, implement, and manage infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments, supporting high-performance SaaS platforms and internal systems.
In this hands-on role, you'll drive automation, scalability, and security-ensuring our platforms are resilient, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices. Whether optimising performance or enhancing infrastructure reliability, your work will directly empower our development teams and accelerate delivery.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative, Agile environment and brings deep technical expertise to the table. You'll be a subject matter expert, mentor, and enabler-championing continuous improvement and Agile principles across the organisation.
You'll also have the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Systems Engineering when needed, and play a key role in fostering a positive, high-performance culture across Technology and the wider business.
What You'll Do
- Design and deploy scalable, high-performance systems across cloud and on-prem environments
- Optimise distributed infrastructure for uptime, reliability, and efficiency
- Build automation for provisioning, configuration, and deployment to reduce manual effort
- Implement robust security protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system and performance issues
- Collaborate with DevOps, software engineering, and IT teams to integrate and enhance solutions
- Plan for future growth by analysing capacity and scaling infrastructure accordingly
- Maintain clear documentation to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity
- Stay ahead of tech trends and integrate best practices into infrastructure strategy
- Support third-party development partners to ensure quality and alignment with design goals
- Champion Agile principles and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
Requirements
- Deep expertise in AWS and cloud infrastructure, with hands-on experience of serverless architectures, automation, and orchestration tools
- Solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Strong coding skills in Python (plus Bash or PowerShell), with a focus on automation and reliability
- Proven ability to design and manage large-scale distributed systems, including networking, storage, and compute resources
- Sharp troubleshooting instincts-able to diagnose and resolve complex system issues fast
- Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO27001, NIST, GDPR)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Grafana, and ELK stack
- Excellent communicator-able to bridge technical and non-technical teams with clarity and confidence
- Analytical mindset with a knack for solving problems and turning insights into action
- Comfortable managing complex projects in fast-paced, high-impact environments
- Track record of scaling systems in cloud or hybrid setups
- Creative problem-solver who thrives on tackling challenges head-on
Benefits & conditions
- Competitive Salary: circa £55,000 - £68,000 per annum (based on capability, and experience)

- This role is offered on a full time basis.
