Job description

We are looking for a skilled Data & Insights Analyst to play a key role in shaping how data is used to drive regional performance, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.

This role leads the design and development of data visualisation and insight, transforming complex datasets into clear, meaningful dashboards and reports that support both operational delivery and longer-term planning. Working closely with regional delivery managers and business stakeholders, you will ensure data is accessible, accurate, and actionable.

A core element of the role is ownership of PowerBI dashboards and reporting, with a strong focus on insight generation rather than simple data presentation. You will be viewed as a subject-matter expert in data visualisation and analysis, with autonomy over dashboard design and regional reporting outputs.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Collecting, cleaning, and analysing data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies to generate meaningful operational and strategic insights
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining interactive PowerBI dashboards and reports
  • Presenting complex data in a clear, intuitive, and visually compelling way for a range of audiences
  • Tailoring dashboards to different stakeholder needs, from high-level performance views to detailed operational insights
  • Providing data-driven recommendations to improve safety, reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance
  • Supporting forecasting, predictive modelling, and business planning activities
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes through automation and streamlined reporting
  • Supporting data governance best practice and consistency across reporting
  • Producing outage and performance reporting, working closely with system operators and regional teams on a day-to-day basis
  • Acting as a key point of contact for data-related queries and insight across the region

Requirements

  • Strong experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation
  • Advanced expertise in PowerBI, with the ability to build dynamic, user-focused dashboards
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation
  • Proven ability to analyse large, complex datasets and generate actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a results-driven mindset

Desirable:

  • Degree in data science, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, business analytics, or a related field
  • Experience with financial or performance models (Excel or similar tools)
  • Knowledge of planning processes across multiple work types
  • Understanding of the RIIO regulatory framework
  • Experience delivering training or presentations on data and insight tools

Benefits & conditions

  • Generous double-match pension scheme - for every £1 you put in, we'll add £2 (max company contribution 12%)
  • An optional flexible benefit scheme, including private healthcare, dental insurance, technology plans, travel insurance
  • Death in service 10x your basic salary
  • Financial protection if you're unable to work due to long term illness or injury
  • Excellent family friendly provisions - maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental leave
  • Professional development and career progression
  • Employee assistance programme offering free confidential professional counselling 24 hours per day
  • Financial support to help you cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, relevant to your role
