About the Role: Project Manager - DevOps
The DevOps Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects focused on cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, CI/CD enablement, release management, operational reliability, UI/UX-related technical delivery, and automation initiatives.
This role ensures the successful deployment, scaling, and ongoing resilience of digital products and internal platforms through structured project governance, strong cross-functional coordination, and DevOps-driven delivery practices. The DevOps Project Manager operates across the full project lifecycle, from requirements definition and planning through implementation, release, automation, and operational handover.
The role is central to aligning engineering, infrastructure, security, product, and design stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, scalable, automated, and user-centred solutions on time and within budget.
A key focus of this role is the delivery of projects within the water industry, both nationally and internationally, addressing critical challenges such as water resource management, climate adaptation, and infrastructure resilience., Project Governance & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end delivery of DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform improvement, UI/UX implementation, automation, and technical transformation projects.
- Define project scope, work breakdown structures, timelines, milestones, and resource plans across DevOps, engineering, infrastructure, product, UI/UX, and automation-related teams.
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams such as CI/CD implementation, cloud migration, infrastructure provisioning, observability, release management, environment standardisation, workflow automation, and front-end experience enhancements.
- Establish and maintain sprint plans, delivery roadmaps, and release schedules aligned with Agile and DevOps practices.
- Monitor project delivery against milestones, KPIs, risks, dependencies, and budget constraints.
- Escalate delivery risks, blockers, and changes promptly to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered with clear governance, documentation, user acceptance alignment, automation readiness, and operational handover.
DevOps, Platform, UI/UX, and Automation Coordination
- Coordinate the delivery of DevOps initiatives including build and release pipelines, infrastructure as code, cloud platform deployment, automation improvements, and user interface enhancements.
- Work closely with DevOps Engineers, Software Engineers, Product teams, Designers, Security teams, and business stakeholders to ensure reliable and efficient delivery.
- Support the delivery of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud platforms across the Azure estate, aligned with the organisation's long-term cloud strategy.
- Oversee coordination of environment management, deployment planning, release readiness, and technical support for UI/UX changes entering production.
- Ensure that UI/UX-related projects are integrated effectively into engineering and release workflows, with appropriate testing, stakeholder review, and deployment planning.
- Identify and drive automation initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve deployment efficiency, operational consistency, monitoring, and internal workflows across delivery and operational teams.
- Track technical delivery metrics relating to deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, availability, incident trends, release quality, and automation effectiveness.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Act as the primary interface between technical teams and internal or external stakeholders for DevOps, platform, digital product, and automation-related projects.
- Translate technical delivery progress, risks, dependencies, automation impacts, and design implementation considerations into clear updates for business stakeholders.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors, technology partners, and service providers where required.
- Contribute to reporting for leadership, customers and auditors where applicable.
Risk, Security, Compliance, and Quality
- Promote secure, compliant, and reliable delivery practices across all DevOps, infrastructure, UI/UX-related, and automation projects.
- Support risk assessments, audits, incident reviews, testing cycles, and post-implementation evaluations where required.
- Ensure infrastructure, deployment, access management, automation controls, and release practices align with organisational security policies and standards. · Encourage quality assurance processes that support both technical robustness and positive user experience outcomes.

Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in project management of technical infrastructure, cloud, platform, automation, digital product, or DevOps-related projects.
- Proven ability to manage planning, scheduling, resource coordination, risk management, and delivery to time and budget.
- Experience leading cross-functional technical teams across DevOps, software engineering, infrastructure, security, product, UI/UX, and process improvement functions.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps principles.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure), release processes, automation practices, and operational service delivery.
- Experience supporting projects that include front-end delivery, product usability improvements, or UI/UX implementation.
- Experience delivering or coordinating automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, workflow consistency, or platform reliability.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting delivery, operational, and platform performance metrics.
- Experience using Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel and Power BI, for reporting, dashboards, and stakeholder communication.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams in fast-moving environments.
- Confidence to challenge stakeholders, manage difficult conversations, and protect delivery timelines, quality, and commitments.
