  • Stay current with the rapidly developing 4D STEM and ptychography literature, identifying opportunities to incorporate emerging techniques
  • Support pre-sales and evaluation activities by providing expert technical insight into 4D STEM workflows and applications

Requirements

Do you have experience in Python?, Do you have a Master's degree?, We are seeking a talented and motivated 4D STEM Specialist to help drive the development and application of SenseAI's compressed sensing technology within the rapidly evolving 4D STEM landscape. This is a unique opportunity to work at the frontier of electron microscopy, contributing both to cutting-edge research and to the commercial translation of novel imaging methods., * Right to work in the UK (essential) - candidates must hold or be eligible for full UK right to work;

  • Based in, or willing to relocate to, the North West of England (preferred); UK-based candidates will also be considered
  • Master's or PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong hands-on experience in scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), with specialisation in 4D STEM techniques and ptychography
  • Proven ability to prototype and test 4D STEM data acquisition and processing methods
  • Proficiency in scientific coding (Python, MATLAB, and/or C++) with experience developing data processing workflows
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and communicate complex technical concepts clearly
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers and product developers
  • Ability to travel to customer sites, conferences, and training events (~10% to 15%)

Desirable:

  • Knowledge or awareness of compressed sensing as applied to 4D STEM
  • Experience working in materials science or life sciences using electron microscopy
  • Broader familiarity with the electron microscopy field, including conventional TEM and SEM techniques
  • Experience with detector technologies relevant to 4D STEM (e.g. direct electron detectors, pixelated detectors)
  • Familiarity with open-source 4D STEM analysis tools (e.g. py4DSTEM, LiberTEM, or similar), * electron microscopy: 3 years (required)

About the company

SenseAI Vision is a disruptive software company in the electron microscopy market. It has proprietary 'compressed sensing' software that can generate better quality images with less data, to reduce beam damage and speed up workflows. It has applications outside electron microscopy as well. It is growing quickly and already has pedigree, publications and customers all over the world.
