Job description
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to design, manage, monitor and optimize the data platform in the BSC infrastructure, and the data services for the Center, ensuring seamless performance and user experience, for giving support to BSC multidisciplinary researchers and be part of the data management team of the BSC. The successful candidate is expected to improve existing Data Services at BSC with AI tools, and to deploy of new services, according to the center needs, for the creation and consolidation of a robust Data Management software platform, secure, scalable and configurable for the multiple users profiles and disciplines of the center. Key Duties
- Co-design the BSC data platform, connecting data services running at BSC, ensuring security and usability for non expert users.
- Manage the data platform, provide support to Users and to the data engineering team
- Configure, manage and optimize generic data services running in OpenStack.
- Monitor and troubleshoot to ensure high availability of data management services.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Collaborate to the growth of the current Data Management services at BSC in collaboration with the Data Managers of the BSC Departments.
- Contribute to the writing of papers , reports, documentation and funding proposals., * A cover/motivation letter with a statement of interest in English, clearly specifying for which specific area and topics the applicant wishes to be considered. Development of the recruitment process
The selection will be carried out through a competitive examination system ("Concurso-Oposición"). The recruitment process consists of two phases:
- Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 points
- Interview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.
The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.
In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. At a minimum, a personality questionnaire as well as a technical exercise will be conducted during the process.
The panel will make a final decision, and all individuals who participated in the interview phase will receive feedback with details on the acceptance or rejection of their profile.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics or related fields.
- Master degree in Data Science or related topics would be a plus.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Experience with data pipelines and data services
- Good understanding of networking and security.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab).
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Familiarity with Docker, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Knowledge of agile and DevOps practices.
- Professional experience in frontend/backend services design
- Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
- Fluent written and verbal communication in Spanish.
- Competences
- Strong scripting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team to complete tasks on schedule.
- Skills on engineering tasks management, planning and reporting.
