Requirements

  • Proven attainment of a 2.1 Honours Degree in a relevant discipline such as Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering
  • Demonstrated passion for computer science, showing a strong commitment to the field
  • Acquired strong programming skills with a clear desire and motivation to further enhance and expand these abilities
  • Proven strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective collaboration and documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a key member of a team, contributing positively to group objectives
  • Proven desire to take ownership of your professional development, actively seeking opportunities to grow and learn

Desirable:

  • Awareness of fundamental Software Engineering principles, with a demonstrated interest in applying them
  • Familiarity with and awareness of tools that support the Software Development Environment, showing an eagerness to work with industry-standard technologies

Our portfolio includes high-impact projects like autonomous underwater mine hunting. As a software engineer at Thales, you'll design the next generation of world-leading sonar and control technologies. Based at our Cheadle Heath site, you'll be a vital part of the Software Development team, collaborating with colleagues across Thales in the UK and globally. Your key responsibilities will involve designing, implementing, and testing Human-Computer Interfaces, acoustic processing, and middleware products using industry-standard tools and practices. This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
