AMD Field Services department is currently seeking Datacenter Technicians to support company's customers & AMD staff as they deploy and maintain servers. The ideal candidate for this role balances strong technical skills, attention-to-detail, and a challenge driven attitude to resolve technical issues for sustaining and deployment activities. Technicians will also contribute in creating knowledge library, e.g. KB Articles, SOP etc. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Scope: This position requires an on-site presence in Data Centre environment. Tech will provide technical support to Customer which will include: * Break-fix support for new rack deployment * Incident management support for sustain operations Project related support * Any DC related activity as directed by Customer Some examples: Replace a Network Device. Configure a network device or a server, Perform power cycle, Perform patch management / cabling etc. Reporting: * Tech will assist Senior Tech or Local AMD Services Leadership in generating periodic reports per customer specification Participate in failure analysis within Data Centre environment as directed by Customer Engineering team Provide logistical support for Asset Management, DC Floor Plan Audit etc. Provide technical assistance to senior members of local AMD Tech Team Provide technical guidance to junior members of local AMD Tech Team Provide timely and detailed feedback to the AMD Management on any service issues impacting SLAs with Customer Follow guidance and work closely with local, Regional or Global AMD Services leadership for response to any customer related communication and escalation(s) Be an outstanding client-facing representative of AMD Systems at all times Be able to accept flexible hours as required for customer delivery and directed by local, Regional or Global AMD Services leadership JOB REQUIREMENTS Knowledge and skills: Exceptional server hardware knowledge with deep understanding of all component & system type failures. o Participation in RCA or Failure analysis history. o Experienced in controlled experiments to determine root cause Proven experience in SW and FW tools of various Server OEMs Familiarity with Linux and Windows scripting is preferred Familiarity with deployment technologies such as WDS, PXE, DHCP & FTP. o Working knowledge of Windows Server OS & Winpe OS administration. o Working knowledge of Linux PXE services. Attention to detail and accuracy in investigation of issues Ability to regularly lift and move server systems that weigh up to 70 LBs Competencies Demonstrated strong ownership, self-motivation Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment Ability to work successfully with geographically dispersed teams, customers and vendors. Must be willing to adopt to a flexible work schedule MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Degree in a computer-related field. Bachelor's Degree preferred or 3 plus year of equivalent experience. Computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related discipline * Preferred Certifications o CompTIA A+ or equivalent. o CompTIA Server+ or equivalent. o MCP/MCSE Certification is a plus #LI-DB1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
