Job description
In this role, internally titled Infrastructure Engineer III, you will work alongside senior and staff engineers to build, maintain, and improve the services that our engineering teams rely on.
This is a role focused on solid execution and continuous growth. You will own well-scoped pieces of work end-to-end, support the engineering teams that depend on our platform, and grow into broader ownership over time with direct mentorship from experienced engineers on the team.
You will be part of a small, focused team that treats infrastructure as a product. Our goal is not just technically correct modules, but genuinely useful ones that make engineers' lives easier, and we therefore expect a high level of ownership and communication.
The role is based in Berlin, with a bi-weekly commitment to travel to our office in Hallesches Tor.
What you will do
- Build and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
- Contribute to our internal platform: reusable modules, golden paths, and documentation.
- Help implement and operate our observability stack through dashboards, alerts, and SLOs.
- Support engineering teams by handling infrastructure-related requests with clarity and follow-through.
- Debug issues across the stack (CI/CD pipelines, Terraform state, AWS services, runtime environments).
- Write scripts and small tools (primarily in Go) to automate repetitive work.
- Participate in design discussions, pair with senior engineers, and learn how we make technical decisions.
- Contribute to improving our processes, documentation, and ways of working.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, or SRE roles, with meaningful AWS experience.
- Working proficiency with Terraform. You can write clean modules, debug state issues, and read existing HCL without getting lost.
- Solid AWS knowledge across core services such as IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, RDS, Secrets Manager, API Gateway.
- Comfort operating in CI/CD-based workflows. You can investigate a failed pipeline independently and understand how Terraform runs in automation (plan/apply separation, state locking, credential flow).
- Working proficiency in at least one scripting language, ideally Go.
- Practical observability experience. You have helped define SLOs, written alerts, and can distinguish between useful and decorative dashboards.
- Strong debugging instincts. You can take a vague report like "pipeline is running slow" and actually chase it down.
- Ability to work independently on well-scoped tasks and communicate progress proactively without needing to be chased.
- Strong written and verbal English skills, with the ability to work across multiple stakeholder teams.
- Comfort in a scale-up environment where priorities shift and context evolves.
Nice-to-have
- Exposure to platform engineering or internal developer platform concepts.
- Experience supporting internal engineering teams as customers (not just shipping features).
Benefits & conditions
- A meaningful mission: protect organizations across Europe from real-world cyber threats
- Work with top-tier professionals from national CERTs, intelligence agencies, and leading tech backgrounds
- A remote-friendly culture with regular company-wide get-togethers, giving you the opportunity to collaborate in person and build strong team connections
- A generous time-off policy, including wellbeing and volunteering days
